The Best Affordable Places To Visit From Yarrawonga To Echuca

The drive from Echuca to Yarrawonga is just over an 1 hour and a half drive via Cobram. There are plenty of stops in between to make this a fun road trip. In this blog, I will highlight the top sights to see along the way. Both Echuca and Yarrawonga are twin towns connecting Victoria and NSW by a bridge across the Murray river.

Explore Echuca town

Head to Moama Beach and go for a swim in the Murray River. Visit the Port of Echuca discovery center. Which has the history of paddle steamers. Click Here for more places to explore in Echuca.

Murray Valley National Park

-Take a stroll along the Gulpa Creek trail, 5km return walk. It will take about 1 hour 30 minutes.
-Kayak or canoe down Edwards river.
– Walk along the reed beds bird hide boardwalk

Cobram

Places to visit

-Visit Thompson beach which is Australia’s largest inland beach.
– Explore Quinn Island where there is 2.5km loop around the island.
– Head across the Murray to Barooga botanic garden.

Namurkah

The Places to Visit

– Kinnairds Wetlands
There is 3 walks here :
The Red Gum Walk Loop Track – 3.5 km, one hour return.
Wetland Walk Loop Trail -2km, 30 minutes return walk.
Young Red Gum Trail Link – 1km , 15 minutes return.
-Wetlands walk just off Station street in town. This is about a 2km loop.
-Creek walk along broken creek to lake Numurkah.

The Cactus Country

The Cactus Garden is the largest explorable cacti garden in Australia, with over 4000 species. It’s open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and is located in the country town of Strathmerton. Yarrawonga

The Top Places to visit

-Byramine homestead and brewery, the homestead is the oldest in Australia. It’s just 15km outside of Yarrawonga.
-Explore lake Mulwa.
-Chinaman’s Island
-Glen Rich olive Estate
-Lake Mulwala Foreshore walk and waterslide
-The water slide is open every Weekend from December to February from 1pm to 5pm and 11am to 5pm on School holidays. It is 0.90 cents per slide or 5 rides for $3.30.
