The Glass House Mountains is located on the Sunshine Coast just over 1 hour from Brisbane. The area is best known for the outdoors where there is a number or mountain peaks to hike. While most people visiting the sunshine coast generally head to Mooloolaba it’s worth spending a few days in the Glass house mountain area.

Mount Ngun Ngun

Mt Ngungun walk is the most popular walk in Glass House Mountains National Park because it’s also known as the best as well. The 2.4km walk has an elevation of 163m and takes around two hours return. From the summit you will be able to get the Sunshine Coast photo as Mount Coonowrin and Mount Beerwah line up perfectly. The walk is fairly shaded most the way up. You will make your way up a series of steps and hard compact ground with a few rocks up the top to climb over to get the perfect view.

Mount Tibberoowuccum

This is one of the best mountain hikes in the Glass House Mountains and you wont find many people taking this trail. To find the beginng of the trail park at Mount Tibrogargan carpark. Walk about 300 meters and you will find a Fire trail entrance with walking signs. You then follow the fire trail about 400m before you turn left up the mountain. The trail is then well trod on and easy to follow. We did use all trails to find the beginning of the trail.

Mount Tibrogargan Circuit

It’s a 3km circuit and known as one of the best walks in Glass House Mountains to really experience the beauty of the area. It takes about an hour to walk all the way around. There is viewing platforms along the way to get views of the other mountains in the area and don’t forget to look up at mount Tibrogargan. You can also hike to the summit of this mountain and you will see the turn off along the circuit. It is recommended for experience hikers/climbers.

Wild Horse Scenic Lookout

Is a 700m up hill concrete trail to a lookout with 360 degree view of the Glass House Mountain’s. It is well worth the hike to the top as it is one of the best places to ger views of all the mountain’s. We did go up on a rainy day but it was still worth it as the views were beautiful and there was shelter up the top.

Glass House Mountain Lookout

If you’re looking for a good Glass House Mountains lookout point and don’t want to do any walking, you can drive right up to the top of the Glass House Mountains Lookout. Here you’ll get a 360 degree view of the Glass House Mountains so you can really take it all in.

Mount Coochin

Is a 2km moderate hike near the town of Beerwah. From the entry point take the fire trail on the left at the fork and then you will find a small trail heading up the hill on the right a short distance off the main fire trail. There is an arrow on the tree leading the way. It is a steep up hill hike to the top. From the top you will get beautiful 360 degree views from the top. After the first peak head back down hill to the second peak. There is a fairly clear path heading down and back up. You will then take the path to the left to the view point before heading back down on the left of the mountain.

Mount Beerburrum

A paved but very steep walk leads 700 meters uphill through a small area of rainforest, then winds up through eucalyptus woodland to a fire tower.
